Ancient Akanthos may not have been excavated to a large extent yet, but the research of the necropolis has been started since 1973. It extends along the coastal part of Ierissos and more than 600 graves have been recorded to date. A small part of the cemetery of ancient Akanthos is presented to the public, which remains as excavated in its place. (+302377350000)
The exhibition is housed in a building near the boarding point and the Tower of Ouranoupolis. The purpose of the exhibition is to show visitors that Halkidiki has important treasures of the Christian period and the countless treasures belonging to the Monasteries of Mount Athos. (+302377071389)
The museum is located near the central square of Arnea, which is 40 km from Ierissos. The exhibits come from the local community and include agricultural tools, coffee-making utensils, household items, glasses, containers and photographs of everyday life in the village, etc. (+30 23723 50100)
