Nea Roda, a small village just 6 km from Ierissos, is built on the narrowest part of the Athos peninsula. It is one of the largest refugee villages in Northern Halkidiki, and is known for the "Xerxes Canal". The area around Nea Roda is wonderful, the coastline is golden and has many tavernas and bars, so it is a good choice for a morning or evening escape.
